Scale Citadel is an ancient, secret fortress built to house and protect the Furox bone-mark from outsiders, introduced in Episode 5: Fanning the Flames. The entire fortress is riddled with traps to prevent anyone from reaching the bone-mark. The bone-mark is no longer housed in the citadel. Kitt Wonn managed to reach the bone-mark -- it was temporarily in Moordryd Paynn's possession before being absorbed by Beau

Location[]

The Citadel is located in Old City.

Exterior[]

It resembles a large-horned dragon head from the outside, with glowing mouth, eyes and an entrance located at the dragon's throat. The citadel is surrounded by fog.

Interior[]

Upon first entering, there are thin but tall pillars that line a massive hall. The pillars have human-size Red Draconium powered lamps shaped like the symbol of the Dragon Flares Crew (which was originally the symbol for the Red Draconium Empire which the Dragon Flares are descended from), that provide the primary lighting in the citadel. The bases of the pillars also emanate soft red-glow and have protrusions that resemble dragon claws.

The hall leads to a passageway armed with extremely large guillotine-axes installed in the walls and the roof. The axes periodically swing through the passageway, making it extremely difficult to cross -- one must zoom through precisely when the blades are retracted.

Then comes a hallway armed with huge motion-activated stone crushers sticking out of the walls. This hallway is twice as precarious as the previous: when triggered, crushers on both sides quickly draw in towards the centre of the hallway, interlocking with each other and crushing anything that was trapped between them. Since they are installed at various heights, the infiltrator cannot simply jump over all of them.

The next hall consists of a narrow, serpentine path over a large precipice, at the end of which is a large stone dragon bust that serves as the entrance to the final room containing the bone-mark. The walls of the hall are lined with dragon heads. Along the path lies a Red Draconium trigger-pad shaped like the Dragon Flares crew symbol which activates when stepped on. It triggers closed the entrance to the final room and a barrage of projectiles shooting out of the dragon heads on the wall. This is meant to keep out those infiltrators who couldn't make it inside and keep in those who did, forever.

The cogs that cause the final entrance to close also control all the traps in the previous halls. The final room contains pillars similar to the ones in the first hall. The walls of the final room are intricately carved, most likely telling the ancient stories of the original Furox. The bone-mark is contained in a carved metallic box that levitates atop a carved stand at the end of the room.

History[]

The citadel makes its one and only appearance in Episode 5: Fanning the FlamesPyrrah and Phistus try to infiltrate the fortress at the behest of Word Paynn but do not make it past the first hall. Kitt Wonn manages to outpace and overcome the traps using her Red Thruster Gear and prevents the cogs from turning by wedging a small rock. This shuts down the entire fortress and allows Moordryd Paynn, Pyrrah and the rest of the Penn Racing Crew to catch up with her. Pyrrah is lured by the spirit of the Furox and gets Phorrj to mag-lock the bone-mark, transforming her into the Furox. The Dragon Booster manages to defeat them, but the bone-mark falls into an abyss and is later retrieved by Moordryd. The bone-mark is absorbed by Beau in a later episode.
