Into the Fire is the third episode of the first season in Dragon Booster. It first aired in the US on November 6, 2004. It was then aired in Canada on November 9, 2004 and in Australia on March 3, 2005.
Plot Summary[]
Artha is competing in a race and uses Blue Balance gear to corkscrew around and dodge incoming bits of gear that are falling off of riders battling in front of him. He is eventually hit by a few pieces and almost falls off Beau, but Pyrrah approaches and pulls him back onto his saddle. Artha continues the race and dodges the Green Tail Hammer gear being used by another racer. Going against Parmon’s advice, Artha proceeds to dislodge the racer’s Tail Hammer and Blue Balance gear with his blocking staff.
Pyrrah contacts Word Paynn complaining that the “black dragon gear” she bought from him isn’t working. Paynn initializes the gear and it turns out to be a Black Mind Pod gear. Word commands Pyrrah to destroy the other racers on the track. Pyrrah dislodges Artha's Blue Balancing gear and attacks him with her fire axe. Beau mag-jumps Artha who knocks the weapon out of her hands. The axe falls on the Mind pod and cuts it off Phorrj, releasing Pyrrah from Word’s control.
The Mind pod falls on the track near the finish line. Lance picks it up and comes under Word's control. Seeing Lance in the way, Pyrrah crashes Phorrj into Beau and ejects, stopping them both before crashing into Lance. She lands near Lance and takes the Mind Pod, releasing him from Word’s control but placing herself back under it and kidnaps Lance on Paynn's command.
Back at the crew tents, Artha and Parmon realise Lance is missing and receive a call from an angry Pyrrah, saying that she lost the race because of Lance and caught him trying to steal her gear. She calls Artha for a trade in her under-city fire cave in two hours. Artha takes Parmon along to seek the advice of Mortis, who explains them how the Mind Pod works, how Paynn is out to start a new Dragon-Human War, and that he was indeed responsible for attempting to steal Beau and the destruction of Penn Stables. Artha heads off to the fire cave alone with map gear given to him by Mortis.
Artha enters the cave and finds Pyrrah and Sparkk holding Lance hostage on a Red Draconium dragon. Word, through Pyrrah, demands to know all that Artha knows about the dragon of legend or else Lance will be kept in the caves as the newest Dragon Flares recruit. Artha challenges Pyrrah to a race -- if he wins, Lance is released and if she does, he will tell them what he knows. Pyrrah agrees but adds another clause -- if Artha loses, she will take his dragon too. Pyrrah places Lance on her saddle to be sure that Artha won’t try any “tricks”.
Artha pushes Beau hard to run faster, ramming straight through rocks without protective gear instead of dodging them. Beau overheats due to the magma and is exhausted. Artha apologizes to Beau, who picks up again. Pyrrah commands a hesitant Sparkk to cheat and heat-blast some hanging columns with reversed Red Thruster gear to stall Artha's progress. The column falls on and collapses a bridge but Sparkk is thrown off his dragon Ferno.
Artha clears the jump, but sees Sparkk lying unconscious and dangerously close to the magma and returns to help him. Unseen, he uses his Dragon Booster powers to unleash Beau's mag-shield and they jump through the magma and flames. Transforming back into Artha, he hauls Sparkk onto Beau and returns to safety. As a result, he loses the race and is surrounded by the Dragon Flares crew. Sparkk pleads to Pyrrah but she pulls him close to her and he falls under the control of the Mind Pod as well. Beau mag-blasts the crew away and hurls Artha at Pyrrah. Artha grabs her Mind Pod but Word attempts to take over Artha. Beau helps Artha in retaining control and he throws the pod into the magma.
After coming back to her senses, Pyrrah allows Lance to return to Artha and thanks him for saving Sparkk, now revealed to be her young brother, and rewards him with Level 4 Red Thruster gear.
